Enter Nash, named after the county in NC I was raised in.
Lesson learned: rescuing a dog off the internet - without meeting him first - is sort of like buying pants online. Sometimes they come in smaller than you think.
But he's still fabulous. Nash is a shelter dog. He came from a super lab rescue in Texas who found him in a shelter. He's more of a medium dog, like a small black golden retriever. Eager to please. Silky coat, waggy tail. He started kissing the girls immediately. Total lover. Licker.
We are waiting to train him on the invisible fence (not for the faint of heart - you have to shock the dogs to teach them) so we've been walking. These mandatory walks, especially in the early morning and late evening, have been a surprise pleasure.
And that black coat, leg-lean move, and adoring lab-esque stare reminds me of a dog I still love dearly.
Hooray for scrappy shelter mutts.
