Pippa the Corgi drives me crazy. No really. She's bad. She circles then jumps IN the UPS truck begging for treats. She herds me and the girls when we walk out to the barn. She herds the goats. She used to herd the old horse. She nips the other dogs when they come out of the house. She and Betsy Spaniel have had some serious knock-down-drag-out fights over things as important as frozen goat poop. She chases the cats. She chases her non-existent tail, making a corgi donut that goes around and around and barks incessantly.
She's the one pure bred dog on the property - she belonged to my mother-in-law - and she knows it. She wields this superiority over the rest of the mutts. She is an alpha female. She is wily and smart and knows how to open the food canister with her nose.
BUT. Did I mention how smart she is? How determined and athletic? I have seen her make jumps and take dares like no other dog. She fears nothing. She has so much pluck it breaks my heart. She goes on long runs with Opa on those stubby little legs.
And she loves snow. She refused to come in the first day it snowed. She was basking.
