It was a busy weekend.  I have the girls home on Fridays.  The Dogtor was working Saturday.   We made cookies, took at least 3 hikes, made a trip to Manchester for the BEST blueberry pancakes in the world at Up for Breakfast.  I got a facepainting kit and gave the girls some flair, which they promptly smeared, feeling special nonetheless.

I spend a lot of time in the car getting the girls to school, dance class, outings.  And so when I can't sit down at a computer and work, I try to maximize "think time" - turning my plots and ideas over and over, smoothing them out.

Here is Z, having her own think time, looking west.  There is our gorgeous, ancient crab apple tree (all fruit goes to the horse and goats) that the cats and kids love to climb.   The Dogtor is taking the picture from inside the barn, facing OPA's place, the old vet clinic he renovated across the driveway from the farmhouse where we live.  That building has gone from being a sheep barn, to a vet clinic, to a lovely home - hooray for adaptive re-use and storied space.

Reading this post and looking at that gorgeous photo, suddenly made me remember a vet friend in my neck of the woods who left the shelter of working for a "vet corporation." He had enough land to build his own vet clinic within walking distance of his home and, there, he lives happily ever after. Thanks for the lovely reminder that regardless of what we choose to do, we can tailor the "what" to our individual lifestyles.
