Above Picture:  On the fast ferry to Nantucket for the Book Festival, where newly bipedal Z staggered and lurched and hollered and ate a hundred Cheerios.

If you were one of my children, you'd know I always have Edna St. Vincent Millay's poem Recuerdo in my head.  It's one of the few poems I have memorized, and it bounced off the walls of my brain the entire trip, in Edna's wonderfully affected voice.   I like a little woman with a big voice.

Just finished "Birds" - in spite of its high acclaim, it contained the worst short stories I've ever read - I'm not a pro critic or intellectual, but an avid reader/english major. The stories were depressing - they did not end, just stopped and contained major distasteful senarios. made me wonder if you have a depressive nature. I'm sure you have other writings that are better, this just left me with a bad feeling. I'm in a book club, but don't think we would review this.
